Happy Place.
Do you have a happy place?
Do you have multiple happy places?
I do. Recently it’s been our family campsite. The 4 of us go there almost every weekend! We go there and unwind, relax, chill by the camp fire, ride our bikes, hang by the pool, really whatever we want. We even have a golf cart we can scoot around the campground on!
I went tent camping a few times as a kid and I loved it. But I never realized the community of all the seasonal members. Until I started camping with Rob (my fiancé).
Our first camping trip ever was in Wells Maine, up where his dad camps. Rob had his very own trailer that he got from a family friend for 500 bucks! It was surprisingly in really good condition. Haha. I had so much fun that weekend I knew I wanted this longterm somewhere.
When we got pregnant with our first baby Genevieve, and we decided that we should sell the trailer. We all know camping with a newborn maybe isn’t the easiest thing.
That didn’t stop us!
One of my favorite places to go camping is the Saco River. When Genevieve was about 9 months old, Rob and I got a babysitter and decided to canoe and camp down the Saco River, just the 2 of us. We practically had the whole river to ourselves! We had a blast! It was a memory I will never forget.
We packed everything in our canoe! Grill, tent, cooler, clothes! Theres nothing more serene than being surrounded by nothing but nature!
After a year or so we decided we wanted to go camping regularly. We started tenting again. We went to quite a few camp grounds in our area. It was great family bonding.
On one rainy Saturday we decided it was time, it was time for our very own Camper! We went to this HUGE RV & Campeing Expo to see what we could find. I didn’t even know they had these shin digs. It was so fun! Going in and out of all the trailers seeing all the options! I’m thinking to myself “damn this thing is nicer than my appartment" HA. After browsing through all the beautiful massive RVS, we found ours. Our first home 😂. Keystone Passport Ultralite !
We spent our late winter planning all the places we were going for the summer! We booked all the trips and couldn’t wait to tow behind our beautiful, brand spanking new, portable getaway! We went to campgrounds in Maine, New Hampshire, and Mass and finally decided that Tuxbury Pond, in Amesbury Ma was our home!
Only 45 minutes from our house!
So today I’m packing up all my shit and heading to camp today!
Wherever your happy place is, go there. Enjoy the scenery and live it up!
Happy Friday peeps!
